They have a long and proud history. Even the ancient Romans ate them as they appeared in the works of poets like Virgil and Ovid, who called them fraga. They are delicious and have a perfect taste. They are one of the most favourite fruit among children and adults.
The garden strawberry (or simply strawberry; Fragaria × ananassa) is well-known all around the world and its fruit is widely appreciated for bright red colour, juicy texture, sweetness and of course characteristic aroma. Artificial strawberry flavour is used in many products such as perfume, hand sanitizers, lip gloss and many others. Most often eaten fresh but can also be used in prepared foods such as cakes, juice, pies, ice creams, milkshakes, jams or chocolates.
So, have you already tried strawberries this summer?
